Yale Alumni Sport Associations

OVERVIEW

An alumni association represents all of Yale's 35 varsity sports. The association consists of former athletes, alumni, parents, and friends but membership is open to anyone interested in contributing or getting involved with Yale athletics. We appreciate your contributions to Yale.

MISSION

The purpose of each association is to provide alumni and friends of Yale Athletics information about Yale teams as well as creating a support network for current student athletes. Through the offering of career networking and job placement, hosting of special events including receptions, alumni/alumnae games, golf outings, and the raising of money to support Yale Athletics, Associations enhance the experience between Yale Athletics and the alumni community.

IMPACT OF GIVING

Associations supplement the Department budget and help cover the cost of expenses in the areas of recruiting, out-of-region travel, prospect visits, equipment, communications, and other annual team expenses. These contributions provide our coaches with the resources necessary to attract the best and the brightest to come to Yale. All association contributions are considered gifts to Yale. All expenditures of associations are governed by departmental policy for compliance with Yale, Ivy League, and NCAA requirements.

GIVING ONLINE:

Giving online is now easier than ever! You can visit http://giving.yale.edu/ and choose Make a Gift. Your gift will make an immediate impact on that team.

RECURRING CREDIT CARD GIFT – NEW!

If making your gift via credit card online, it is possible to maximize your generosity through monthly credit card deductions. Rather than making a one-time gift to Yale Athletics, your credit card be charged once a month over the entire fiscal year while reaping the same tax deductible benefits. Maximize your impact and efficiency!

MAILING A GIFT:

Checks should be made payable to Yale University and should include the sport association you wish to have your contribution directed towards. Gifts or pledges can be made by calling (203) 432-1434 or mailing payment to:

Bequests have a profound and lasting impact on Yale Athletics and are a significant source of support for the University. The continuation and expansion of this tradition of remembrance will contribute to future financial strength and excellence.

For many alumni and friends, a bequest is a simple way to make a gift. A commitment made today can influence the future of Yale Athletics with no effect on your resources during your lifetime. Bequests can be in the form of cash, securities, real estate or other property. You may designate a specific dollar amount, a particular asset, a fixed percentage of your entire estate, or leave your residuary estate after you have provided for loved ones. http://yale.planyourlegacy.org

REUNION GIVING:

Your gift to any Yale Sport Association or any Athletics account can be credited to your reunion giving total, both individually and for your class. Even a pledge up to 4 years in advance of a 5 –year reunion can be earmarked for support of your favorite team.

DONATING AMEX OR OTHER CREDIT CARD POINTS:

Patrons of American Express and other credit card companies have ways of donating their unused credit card rewards points to their favorite Yale Team. For example, visit the amex.justgive.org website and choose the first YALE UNIVERSITY option from the GuideStar database. (Yale’s contribution processing will be listed as the point person) Notes will allow you designate the donation to your favorite team. . There is a way to designate the donation and I did to: "Yale Swimming & Diving Association".

Through AmEx, you can donate $10 for every 1000 points, and the delivery time until it reaches the organization is 4-8 weeks. There is no service fee for this.

Please contact your credit card company to learn more about their specific not-for-profit donation policies.
