Yale Athletics Sport Endowments

The Department of Athletics continues to need sport program support to help provide the best experience for our 1,000 student-athletes. While annual gifts to sport associations help teams on a day-to-day and year-to-year basis, we are working to ensure that our programs are fully funded on a more permanent basis by adding to existing endowments as well as creating new funds.

Gifts toward endowment are invested by the University, and the income from the gift is directed toward a purpose selected by the donor. Only the income from the principal is expended in accordance with the University's spending rule, so that the gift continues in perpetuity, helping to safeguard Yale's tradition of excellence against changing economic climates.
