Bulldogs Maintains Top Ranking Nationally
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Senior Thomas Barrows and junior Blair Belling were named the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) co-ed sailors of the week for their winning performance at last week's Danmark Trophy.
In the award citation, Barrows and Belling were described as "completely dominat[ing] a very strong A division." The Danmark Trophy was sailed in both FJs and 420s, yet the team maintained a low 3.6 average finish against a twenty-boat fleet. They won four races and only finished outside of the top-five in three of the fifteen races.
The dominating performance kept the Bulldogs atop this week's Sailing World National Rankings. The Bulldogs received first-place votes from 14 of the 16 participating collegiate coaches. Yale outscored second-ranked Boston College 318 points to 303 points. National rankings are released every other week, and this is the Bulldog's second consecutive rating period in first place.
