Barrows and Belling Named NEISA Co-ed Sailors of the Week
Duo Recognized For Winning A-Division Last Weekend
NEW HAVEN, Conn.—Senior Thomas Barrows and junior Blair Belling were named NEISA Co-ed Sailors of the Week for winning A-division at the Truxton Umsted Intersectional last weekend at the U.S. Naval Academy. The event is widely held as one of the most competitive fleet races of the spring season.
The pair led the Bulldogs to a strong performance at the event overall, and put together a remarkable score-line in their own right. Barrows and Belling finished in the top five in 12 of 19 races and won two races. Yet despite this consistency, the division win was not secured until the pair scored two seconds and one fourth in the final three races, overtaking St. Mary’s by six points in the final standings.
“It feels excellent,” Barrows said. “This really motivates us to keep on working harder.”
Barrows and Belling will try to repeat last weekend’s performance at the Ivy League Championship this weekend at Brown.
