Bulldogs Named Coed Sailors of the Week
Benedict, May and Segerblom Garner Honors For A Division Win
NEW HAVEN, Conn.—The No. 5 Yale coed sailing team got further assurance that their season is starting off on the right track as sophomore skipper Chris Segerblom and crews senior Margot Benedict and junior Heather May were named the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association's coed sailors of the week.
Segerblom skippered the A division boat with crews Benedict and May to the win at the Harry Anderson trophy this past weekend at the event hosted by Yale. The variable conditions and the lack of an established pattern led to very inconsistent scores across the fleet. Because of this, the ability to recover from less than ideal finishes was what made the difference between the teams. Despite finishing last in the first race on Sunday, Segerblom was able to work with Benedict and then May when the wind got stronger to counter that resulted with three top-five finishes.
The Bulldogs finished third at the regatta, which was won by Wisconsin.
