    Segerblom Goes Undefeated in Britain The 2013 BUSA-ICSA Tour concluded this Wednesday with the Performance Sailcraft Trophy held at the Queen Mary Sailing Club. This was the final event of the five-event tour of American college sailors through Great Britain. Senior captain of the Yale coed sailing team Chris Segerblom was a member of the American squad that finished the tour with an undefeated record against the British, winning all five events.

    Segerblom to Represent the U.S. in Britain Although the college sailing season finished in May, the members of the Yale coed sailing team continue to practice and compete throughout the summer months in other venues of the sport. Senior captain Chris Segerblom is competing as a member of the ICSA Team in the United Kingdom this summer as a part of the BUSA-ICSA Tour.

    Bulldogs Awarded Best All-Around Team The No. 2 Yale coed sailing team was awarded the Fowle Trophy at this year’s ICSA Award. The Fowle Trophy is awarded yearly to the best “all-around” team in college sailing. Three Bulldogs were also appointed to the All-American team with two honorable mentions.

    Yale Honors Seven Seniors and One Team with Annual Awards at Senior Reception Seven seniors and one team were honored by the Yale Athletics Department with awards at the annual senior student-athlete reception Saturday afternoon at the Lanman Center in Payne Whitney Gymnasium. The women’s fencing team earned the Brodhead Award for highest team grade point average. Sam Haig (Greenwich, Conn.) of the men’s squash team, Heather May (Newport Beach, Calif.) of the coed and women’s sailing teams and Alyssa Zupon (Basking Ridge, N.J.) of the women’s ice hockey team were the recipients of the Ford Student-Athlete Community Outreach Award. Dakota McCoy (Wexford, Pa.) of the women’s track and field team and Patrick O’Keefe (Pittsford, N.Y.) of the lightweight crew team were the recipients of the Kiphuth Student-Athlete Distinction Award. Lexy Adams (Lancaster, Pa.) of the field hockey team and Collin Bibb (San Antonio, Texas) of the football team were the recipients of the Meyer Humanitarian Award.

Yale will also compete at Central Series Two held at Boston University.

    Yalies Medal at Miami Sailing World Cup Four Yale alumni stood on the podium at the Miami Sailing World Cup awards ceremony this past Saturday. Zachary Brown ’08 won a gold medal in the men’s 49er class, Molly Carapiet ’06 won bronze in the women’s 49er FX, Sarah Lihan ’10 won bronze in the Nacra 17 mixed multihull and Stu McNay ’05 won gold in the men’s 470 class. In addition, current senior Claire Dennis qualified for Saturday’s medal race and went on to finish eighth overall in the laser radial class.
