NEW HAVEN, Conn. – This weekend, the Yale coed sailing team will compete in the Schell Trophy, the New England qualifier for the Atlantic Coast Championships, and the Nickerson Trophy, the New England Freshman Championship.

The Schell will be held at the Coast Guard Academy, where the Victorian Urn – the Women's Championship – will also take place. Coast Guard and Connecticut College will be co-hosting the two championships using three fleets: Coast Guard's Z420s and FJs and Connecticut College's FJs. Because of the limited number of boats, the regatta will follow an unusual rotation scheme that the sailors will need to follow closely all weekend.

Representing the Bulldogs at the Schell will be skippers senior Ian Barrows and sophomore Nic Baird in A and B division respectively with crews seniors Chandler Gregoire, Meredith Megarry, Clara Robertson and Charles Skoda, juniors Christopher Champa and Caroline Colwell and sophomore Kira Woods.

The eight top-placing teams will earn a berth to the Atlantic Coast Championships, which will take place November 12-13 on the Charles River in Boston.

The Nickerson Trophy, held at Tufts, serves as the New England Fall Freshman Championship. The Bulldogs, having trained at Tufts over October Break last week, feel especially prepared for the event.

Freshmen Dylan DiMarchi and Julia Greenberg will sail A division, while freshmen Chrissie Klingler and Graceann Nicolosi will represent the Bulldogs in B.

Racing begins at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Follow results at http://scores.collegesailing.org/f16/.
