NORFOLK, Virg. – Although the Bulldogs did not secure first place at the Gil Coed National Championship, they placed a very respectable seventh within the highly competitive fleet. The racing concluded on Friday in Norfolk with 14 races sailed in each division. The racing was complicated by extremely light breeze for the duration of the event, causing multiple delays and fewer races than anticipated.
Junior skipper Nic Baird with crews first year Sonia Lingos-Utley and sophmore Graceann Nicolosi finished fifth in A division with 102 points, sngagging several top three finishes throughout the regatta.
The Bulldogs are graduating seven members of the class of 2018: Patrick Buehler, Christopher Champa, Caroline Colwell, Claire Huebner, Casey Kilngler, KB Knapp, and Malcolm Lamphere. These sailors have contributed immeasurabley to the Yale sailing team through out the past four years both on and off the water. As they advance towards the next chapter of their lives, all have expressed hopeful sentiments about the future of the Yale sailing team.
The Bulldogs are looking forward to another large first year class and are excited to continue to hone their skills in the 2018 fall season.
