After a tough weekend in barely sailable conditions, the Yale sailing team has been preparing for its first nationals qualifier of the season this weekend at Connecticut College. The second team of Bulldogs will compete at Tufts, while a young third Eli group fleet races at URI.

Yale's Teams:

New England Team Racing Championship – Connecticut College

Boat: Shawn Harvey / Graceann Nicolosi

Middle: Nic Baird / Kira Woods

Pin: Nick Hernandez / Sonia Lingos-Utley

Claudia Loiacono and Chrissie Klingler are going as heavy crews.

 -

Mystic Lake Team Race – Tufts

Boat: Dylan DiMarchi / Anisha Arcot

Middle: Nicholas Marwell / Becca Rose

Pin: Sam Tobin or Christophe Chaumont / Mina Cezairli

Southern Series 5 – URI

A: Adam Wolnikowski / Alexandra Contomichalos (Saturday), Jonathan Schwartz / Allison Rice (Sunday)

B: Jacob Asher / Allison Rice (Saturday), Liviu Mosnoi / Kathleen Wells (Sunday)

Despite placing outside the top five at MIT last weekend, the Bulldogs received unanimous votes for the #1 national ranking. Generally, the coaching poll reported that one slip up has not taken away from the team's otherwise dominant season. They are in a strong position to qualify for the nationals out of NEISA, though this year's qualifiers might be the most competitive in the last five years. The top four teams at this event will move on to the ICSA Team Race Nationals in Newport R.I. in May.

For those going to Tufts, this is their last team race of the season. The second Bulldog team has improved significantly throughout the year and looks to take away their first win of the season at Tufts in one of the most challenging venues in NEISA.

The younger team at the Southern Series has sailed very few total regattas, and they will be eager to discover where they stand against other teams.
