ADULT LESSONS

ADULT LESSONS are taught to the beginner and intermediate/advanced levels in 420s. Class sizes are limited to ensure close interaction with the instructors, so please register early. Please note that separatoin into Level 1 and Level 2 will be done the day of the lesson; no need to specify your level for the registration process!

420 Level 1:

A two-day intensive class for beginning sailors providing 10 hours of teaching including chalk board explanations, sailing demonstrations and on-the-water instruction. Along with this course, you will receive a simple sailing book that you will be able to keep. This book will allow you to refresh your memory on some of the topics covered in the class! Students will learn the basics of sailing: rigging, launching, basic maneuvering, capsize and rescue, and landing.

420 Level 2:

A two-day intensive class for intermediate level sailors. This class is also 10 hours of teaching including chalk board explanations, sailing demonstrations and on-the-water instruction.  This class will focus on more on-the-water skills and is expected to have significantly fewer land activities.  Students will become more comfortable with sailing in many conditions and, depending on conditions, may gain enough experience to go sailing on their own. After completion of this course, students will be able to become a summer member and go sailing during open sailing hours.
