2013 Letter to Campers and Parents
Greetings from YCYC!
We hope you are excited about what is shaping up to be a great summer program. As you and your camper prepare for the upcoming weeks of the program, here are some things to keep in mind.
On the first day of camp, please bring the signed Risk Waiver Form and Medical Form. These can be found at our website (http://yalebulldogs.com/sports/c-sail/Summer_Sailing/Forms) and must be filled out and signed before the camper can participate. Your camper(s) should bring a life jacket (if you do not have one, we can provide one), closed toe shoes, sunscreen, a bathing suit, a towel, a water bottle, and extra weather appropriate clothing (for example, UnderArmor or other clothing that stays warm when wet…Hoodies are not appropriate) every day to camp.
Campers can be dropped off as early as fifteen minutes before class starts and must be picked up promptly at the end of class. Due to our instructors’ hours, we cannot be responsible for or accommodate campers who are dropped off too early or picked up too late. If you are interested in signing up for a carpool contact sheet (if you need help with acquiring rides or are willing to provide them) please email us with your name, contact number, area in which you live, and carpooling specifics.
We will be holding class regardless of inclement weather. Days with storms, no wind, too much wind, etc. will be spent in the classroom doing sailing related activities.
YCYC will be hosting a Tuesday Night Race Series starting June 18th until August 6th. We highly encourage all sailors on the Racing Team and other qualified campers to attend. This is a great way to meet other competitive racers to help expand your racing skills. First Gun will be at 6:30pm, although latecomers are welcome. Last start will be at8:15pm. For more detailed information, please visit our website (http://yalebulldogs.com/sports/c-sail/Summer_Sailing/Tuesday_Night_Racing).
This year, our camps feature Parent Day. This will be held on the last Tuesday of camp and is an opportunity for parents to come down and see all that their children have learned over the course of the summer. Feel free to drop by for any or all of your camper’s class. This is a great photo opportunity! Additionally, on the last Thursday of camp, we will have a Pirate Day. Pirate attitude and attire are a must. There will be Treasure Hunts and a Costume Contest.
Finally, on Friday of the last week, we will be holding a barbeque for all parents and campers of that Session. In addition to grilling up some spectacular food, we will be recognizing our campers’ hard work and improvement in the sport of sailing. We will be grilling from 11am to 2pm with awards at 12:30pm, although campers are still allowed and encouraged to show up for their regular class. We will have a sign-up sheet for various needed items on the first day of camp.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to meeting everyone and having a great and exciting summer.
