Joe Morris and Grace Becton.

March 26, 2009

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Freshman Joseph Morris (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) and senior Grace Becton (Deer Isle, Maine/Deer Isle-Stonington) have been named New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Sailors of the Week for their strong performance at the Truxtun Umsted Intersectional on Mar. 21-22. This is the first honor of the young spring season for Morris and Becton and the second for the team, after junior Thomas Barrows and sophomore Blair Belling received the honor on Mar. 8.

Morris and Becton were very impressive at the Truxtun Umsted Intersectional, taking second in B division, which helped the Bulldogs take second overall at the regatta. The duo was very consistent, only finishing outside of the top half of the competitors in one of the 17 races. The pair was particularly impressive on the second day of competition, when they had four consecutive races in the top four.

The team is next in action on Saturday and Sunday at the Owen, Mosbacher and Knapp Trophies, the Boston Dinghy Club Cup and Southern Series Two.
