Three Bulldogs Earn Academic All-District Honors
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Trygg Larsson-Danforth, Robert Gruber and Gant Elmore have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2009-10 Baseball Team. Larsson-Danforth, a senior first baseman, was one of 12 athletes named to the Academic All-District first team. Gruber and Elmore both earned spots on the second team.
Larsson-Danforth boasted a .373 batting average, fifth best in the Ivy League. An environmental studies major from Mattapoisett, Mass., Larsson-Danforth recorded a 3.38 GPA over his four years. The first baseman led the Bulldog offense with 44 RBIs and 11 home runs in 2010, improving on the 2009 season in which he earned first team All-Ivy honors and was named Yale's Most Valuable Player. This year, he shared the MVP award with Elmore.
Elmore, a junior second baseman, finished a stellar defensive season with a .988 fielding percentage. Offensively, he tallied 58 hits for a .339 batting average, . Elmore is an economics major with a 3.61 GPA.
Gruber, a 6'7” pitcher, finished 2010 with a 4.39 ERA and a paltry 0.73 ERA in conference. The right-hander made 21 appearances in relief for the Bulldogs, throwing 26.2 innings. An English major, Gruber posted a 3.39 GPA and is one of three pitchers named to the Academic All-District second team.
