The Ivy League announced on Monday that after fixing a voting tabulation error, Yale University senior first baseman Trey Rallis won the Ivy League Player of the Year award. Breslow ’02 Continues Giving Back with Strike 3 Foundation Annual First Pitch Celebrity Gala Coming Up
Former Yale Bulldog and current Oakland Athletic Craig Breslow ’02 will be back in Connecticut Nov. 13 for the third annual First Pitch Celebrity Gala to support his Strike 3 Foundation for pediatric cancer research. Breslow, a member of the Yale baseball team from 1999-2002, has enjoyed tremendous success in the major leagues as Yale’s first big leaguer since Ron Darling ‘82. Yet, as his foundation’s work demonstrates, it was the off-the-field lessons Breslow learned as a Bulldog -- not just those learned on it -- that have stuck with him since he has left New Haven.

Bulldogs Take 2010 City Series Championship
It may be six months from the official start of baseball season, but yesterday's City Series Championship game between the Quinnipiac Bobcats and host Yale Bulldogs certainly had the feel of a postseason contest. After finding themselves down 4-0 after the first, the Elis stopped the Bobcats in their tracks, holding Quinnipiac to those four runs and chipping away until the bottom of the eighth, when a four-run outburst gave the Bulldogs their first lead of the day – and the 2010 City Series championship.

Former Yale lefthander Craig Breslow '02, a reliever with the Oakland Athletics, has been nominated for Major League Baseball’s Roberto Clemente Award for humanitarian and community service. Breslow founded the Strike 3 Foundation, a charitable organization that heightens awareness, mobilizes support and raises funding for childhood cancer research. He created the foundation in honor of his sister Lesley, a survivor of pediatric thyroid cancer. The Boston Red Sox promoted former Yale catcher Ryan Lavarnway ‘09 to their Double-A affiliate, Portland, on Thursday. Lavarnway, now two steps away from the major leagues, is one of several Bulldogs enjoying successful seasons in pro baseball this summer. Left-hander Craig Breslow ‘02 is in his fifth season in the big leagues and has 41 strikeouts in 40.2 innings for the Oakland A’s. Right-hander Brian Irving ‘08 has cracked the starting rotation for Augusta, Single-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Right-hander Brandon Josselyn ‘09 has 11 saves for Clinton, Single-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. And first baseman Trygg Larsson-Danforth ’10 is second on his team with a .372 on-base percentage for the Red Sox’ rookie-level Gulf Coast League affiliate in Fort Myers, Fla.
