Lally, Rallis Named To First Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Six Yale baseball players have earned All-Ivy recognition. Starting pitcher Vinny Lally and first baseman Trey Rallis were both named to the first team. Relief pitcher Kevin Fortunato and third baseman Andy Megee were second team selections, while starting pitcher Brook Hart and outfielder Cam Squires earned honorable mention recognition.

Lally, a senior, led the Ivy League in opposing batting average (.175) and innings pitched (67.1), tied for second in strikeouts (70) and was fourth in ERA (2.54). He finished the season with a 5-1 overall record. In league play, he finished 3-1 with a 2.34 ERA.

Rallis, a senior who was a unanimous first team selection, won the Ivy League's Blair Bat, given to the player with the best batting average in league games. His .441 average against Ancient Eight opponents was 59 points better than the next-best average. Overall, Rallis hit .365 to lead Yale in that category as well as on-base percentage (.444, second in the league) and slugging percentage (.527). He drove in a team-best 30 runs and also led the team in doubles with 12 and homeruns with four. A disciplined hitter, he finished with more walks (19) than strikeouts (17).

Fortunato enjoyed an outstanding rookie season. He posted two saves and a 2.13 ERA while striking out 23 batters in 25.1 innings.

Megee, a senior who did not miss a game in his career, finished second on the team with a .329 batting average. That represented a 19-point improvement over his average from a year ago. He was also fourth on the team in slugging percentage (.431) and fifth in on-base percentage (.385). His 55 hits tied for fourth in the Ivy League.

Hart posted impressive numbers in his final season. He started nine games and posted a 2.23 ERA.

Squires, a sophomore, appeared in 33 games and batted .312 with two triples and nine stolen bases.
