Bulldogs Knock Off Southern Connecticut 4-2 In City Series

Scharff Has Two Hits, Two RBI For Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Josh Scharff had two hits and knocked in a pair of runs to lead Yale to a 4-2 victory over Southern Connecticut in the New Haven City Series at Yale Field. Rob Cerfolio pitched seven innings and scattered seven hits to earn the victory, while Chris Lanham tossed two innings of relief to notch the save.

Scharff's RBI double in the second scored Kevin Fortunato to give the Bulldogs the lead. After Southern tied it with a run in the third, Scharff struck again, this time delivering a run-scoring single in the fourth.

Yale tacked on two more runs in the seventh when David Toups drew a bases loaded walk, and Fortunato drove home a run with a ground out.

The Bulldogs had seven hits in the game.
