Chris Lanham Earns Ivy Honors
WEST HAVEN, Conn. - Chris Lanham was named the Ivy League Co-Pitcher of the Week Wednesday for his stellar performance against Columbia. It is Yale's first Ivy Award on the season and its first Pitcher of the Week since a year ago, when David Hickey won the accolade on April 9, 2013.
Lanham was simply unhittable in his start against Columbia Tuesday. He pitched a complete game in the seven-inning affair, surrendering only three hits and facing just 22 batters.
He struck out six, walked none, and was incredibly efficient in the process. He threw 62 pitches - less than nine per inning - 46 of those for strikes.
Lanham's start propelled Yale to a 3-0 win, the early half of a sweep over Columbia. He continues to lead Yale's pitchers in wins, with a 4-1 record.
Hickey nearly mirrored Lanham in the second game en route to a 4-1 Yale victory. Hickey threw seven innings, also allowing just three hits. He walked one batter and struck out seven in the win. Hickey is tied for second in wins behind Lanham, with a 2-2 record.
