Big 8th Inning Propels Yale Past Iona

WEST HAVEN, Conn. -- The Bulldogs used a seven-run eighth inning to defeat Iona, 9-5, at Yale Field on Wednesday afternoon.  

Griffin Dey blasted his team-leading eighth home run of the season for Yale and Mason Kukowski pitched two innings of scoreless relief to earn the win. 

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 20-14 overall.  

Simon Whiteman delivered the go-ahead hit in the eighth to score Brian RonaiRichard Slenker, who had three hits, followed with an insurance RBI to score Tim DeGraw.

Thomas Espig started for the Bulldogs and pitched a perfect two innings with three strikeouts.  

Yale will host Dartmouth for a four-game series this weekend.  Doubleheaders are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
