The Bulldogs continue their strong non-conference schedule with a three-game set at No. 5 Florida this weekend.

After facing the top hitting team in the nation (New Mexico State) to open the season two weeks ago, Yale last weekend took two of three from New Orleans and stand at 3-4 overall.  The Privateers entered the series 6-1 overall with a win over No. 23 Southern Mississippi.

For the second straight week, Scott Politz earned Ivy League Pitcher of the week honor to lead a solid weekend of solid starting pitching for the Bulldogs.

Politz tossed a complete-game, one-hitter to lift the Bulldogs to a 4-1 win last Friday. In his first two starts, Politz has a 0.54 ERA over 16 and 2/3 innings.

In the last two games of the series against New Orleans, Kumar Nambiar took a no-decision after six scoreless innings and Alex Stiegler earned the win in the nightcap with a two-run, five-inning performance.

At the plate, Griffin Dey and Mason LaPlante earned spots on the weekly Ivy League Honor Roll. Dey went 7 for 14 (.500) against New Orleans, while LaPlante went 4 for 5 in the Saturday doubleheader.

Team captain Simon Whiteman continues to lead the team with a .419 batting average (13 for 31) with a .471 on-base percentage and seven runs scored.

The Gators (10-5) had a four-game win steak snapped Wednesday in a 7-2 loss to Florida Gulf Coast.  Florida last week scored 63 runs with a 4-1 record and on Tuesday won 15-0 over FGCU.

Yale continues their trip to Florida with a two-game set at Central Florida beginning on Tuesday in Orlando.
