The Bulldogs (10-14, 4-2 Ivy) received two impressive pitching performances against Cornell. Alex Stiegler was named Ivy League Player of the Week last Tuesday for his complete-game shutout on March 30 against the Big Red. Stiegler struck out six, allowed five hits and walked three. It was the third straight start Stiegler pitched at least eight innings and earned the win.
It was the fourth time this season a Bulldog has won league pitching honors. Stiegler has won it twice, while earlier this year Scott Politz also earned it two times.
On Monday, Kumar Nambiar kept it going on the mound and went seven solid innings against in a 7-2 win against Cornell. Through the first six conference games, the Bulldogs lead the league with a 3.23 team ERA, over a run lower than the next-best team.
At the plate, team captain Simon Whiteman and Mason LaPlante earned spots on the weekly Ivy League honor roll. Whiteman is riding an eight-game hit streak entering the weekend and went 8 for 16 last week, while LaPlante went 6 for 15.
Harvard (14-6, 4-2 Ivy) won their first two Ivy League series against Penn and Princeton.
