Feb. 5, 2009

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - John Stuper, the Mazzuto Family Head Coach for Baseball, and the Yale baseball team have announced their schedule for the upcoming 2009 season. The Elis will play 22 non-conference games in addition to 20 Ivy League contests.

The season will begin in Baltimore, Md., as the Elis challenge Wagner and Maryland-Baltimore County on March 8. Yale will square off with Maryland-Baltimore County once again on March 9 before heading to North Carolina for games at Davidson on March 10 and 11. The next stop on the annual spring trip will be Richmond, Va. for a trio of games with Richmond. Three games in three days are on tap on March 16-18 as well, as the Elis head back to Maryland for a series at Towson.

After returning back to the northeast, a two-game series at Holy Cross on March 20 and 21 will close out the season-opening, 13 game road swing. Yale Field will see its first action of 2009 on March 25 as Connecticut makes the trip to the Elm City.

After the non-conference tilt with Connecticut, Yale will promptly hit the road again to kick off the Ivy League slate with doubleheaders at Princeton and Cornell on March 28 and 29.

A doubleheader with Maine on March 31 and an April 1 contest against in-state rival Quinnipiac await the Bulldogs upon their return to Yale Field. The three non-conference tilts with the Bears and Bobcats open a nine-game homestand for the Elis. The home crowd will get its first Ivy League contest on April 4 as the Columbia Lions visit New Haven for a doubleheader. Twin bills with Penn on April 5 and Sacred Heart on April 7 wrap up the seven-game homestand.

The Bulldogs will meet Harvard four times in two days, a pair of doubleheaders on April 11 and 12 in Cambridge, before hosting Fairfield for a pair on April 15 and Dartmouth for a quartet of games in the form of dual twin bills on April 18 and 19.

The Elis will wrap up their non-conference slate with a road clash at Hartford on April 22. Yale Field closes out another season on April 25 as the Bulldogs host a doubleheader with Brown. The 2009 regular season wraps up at Brown on April 26 with another doubleheader against the Bears.
