AT YALE: Upshaw should have an opportunity to earn more playing time in 2004-05. He showed flashes of his potential late last season. Against Dartmouth in the final home game of the year he was 5 of 6 from the field and had a career-high 11 points. The night before against Harvard he made his only field goal and grabbed a career-high five rebounds in 10 minutes. In a victory at Dartmouth in early February he made both of his field goal attempts, including a ferocious dunk.
As a freshman, his top performance came against RPI when he made all four of his field goals and scored eight points in only six minutes. He also had four points at Cornell. He missed four games midway through the season with an illness.
AT OAK RIDGE: Upshaw averaged 22 points and 12 rebounds as a senior at Oak Ridge High School. He was named the Montgomery County Offensive Player of the Year last winter after earning the conference's Defensive Player of the Year honors as a sophomore and junior. He was also the district co-MVP as a senior.
