Team Falls To Bosnia And Herzegovina 60-57
SARAJEVO, Bosnia – Rising sophomore Jeremiah Kreisberg scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds but it wasn't enough to lead Israel to a victory on Monday at the Under-20 European Championships. Israel fell to Bosnia And Herzegovina 60-57 and finished preliminary play with a 2-2 record, good for third place, in Group D.
Kreisberg started and played 31 minutes. He was 6-of-11 from the field, 4-of-9 from the foul line and added a blocked shot.
In four games, Kreisberg is averaging 13.3 points and 7.0 rebounds, both team bests.
Play resumes on Wednesday with Israel in the classification round. The top two teams from each group advanced to the qualifying round. Israel plays Great Britain on Wednesday and Finland on Thursday.
Kreisberg enjoyed an outstanding freshman season for Yale in 2010-11, finishing fifth on the team in scoring (7.2 rpg.) and second in rebounding (4.5 rpg.) while shooting 55.6 percent from the field. He was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week twice and scored in double figures in five of the last eight games of the season.
