One Player From Each Of Six Schools Selected
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Justin Sears, who finished his first season at Yale as the fourth highest scoring freshman in the Ivy League, has been named to the All-Connecticut 6 Preseason Team.
Sears, who received the team's John C. Cobb Award as rookie of the year, finished sixth overall in the Ivy League in field goal percentage (.489) and eighth in rebounding (5.3 rpg.). He grabbed 78 offensive rebounds, the second most in the league, In addition, he tied for the team lead in rebounding and was second in scoring, One of the highlights of his season came when he scored the winning basket on a put back in the final seconds of a 64-62 victory at Bryant
Joining Sears on the team are Central Connecticut's Kyle Vinales, Fairfield's Maurice Barrow, Hartford's Mark Nwakamma, Quinnipiac's Ike Azotam and Sacred Heart's Louis Montes.
The Connecticut 6 Classic will celebrate its fifth anniversary on Saturday when the six schools converge on Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, the site for the first-ever Classic in 2009. The first game will feature Quinnipiac and Hartford with tip off at 3 pm. Central Connecticut and Yale will follow at 5:30 pm, while Fairfield and Sacred Heart complete the tripleheader at 8 pm.
