Mark Gilbride, who spent last year as an assistant coach at Stonehill College, is in his first year on James Jones' staff. Stonehill won 18 games and reached the semifinals of Northeast-10 Tournament during his tenure. Gilbride also spent one season at Amherst, helping the the Lord Jeffs capture the NCAA Division III national championship, and three years at his alma mater, Bowdoin. "Mark has a great deal of experience and desire," said Jones, the Joel E. Smilow, Class of 1954 Head Coach of Men's Basketball at Yale. "He will bring a fresh perspective and a high energy level to our staff." As a player at Bowdoin, Gilbride was a team captain and starting point guard for the Polar Bears. He led the team in assists three seasons in a row. A 2002 graduate, he earned a degree in economics. Gilbride enjoyed an outstanding high school career at Mount Ararat High School in Topsham, Maine, where he was a 1,000-point scorer and McDonald's all-state selection.
