FOLSOM, Calif. – Day two of competition at the 111th IRA National Championships brought some hard-fought racing from Yale's three heavyweight crews, but each one came up short of qualifying for the grand final in their respective events.  Yale's varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four finished fourth, sixth and fifth, respectively.  The Bulldogs will now race in the petite finals, beginning with the varsity four at 9:36 a.m. PT on Sunday.

The first race for the Bulldogs on Saturday was the first of two varsity four semifinals.  Yale kept in striking distance of the top three in the opening section of the race, but after coming through the 500-meter mark in fourth place, the Bulldogs dropped back to fifth.  At the finish the Bulldogs were again in fifth, with open water separating them from FIT in fourth and Penn in sixth.
