National Champs Well Represented

PLOVDIV, Bulgaria - After a perfect season, a national championship and numerous honors, some of the 2017 Yale Heavyweight Crew are set to compete in the U23 World Championships. Four of the Bulldogs, Sholto Carnegie '18, Rob Hurn '17, Tom Digby '20, and Charlie Elwes '19, will be representing Great Britain at the competition.

Carnegie and Hurn, Yale's former captain, were both members of the Great Britain crew that won the silver medal in the 8+ last year.

Another competitor from the national championship squad is Garth Holden '20, who will be representing South Africa for the second straight year at Worlds.

The other two representing Yale are incoming freshmen Matteo Sandrelli '21, who will be representing Italy, and Jack Lopas '21 of New Zealand.

The U23 Championships are slated for Plovdiv, Bulgaria, from July 19-23. The competition is expected to bring in participants from over 40 countries, and it's estimated that over 100 boats could be on the water at the same time.
