Yale Advances to Semifinals at Henley
OXFORDSHIRE, England – On day three of the Henley Royal Regatta, Yale came out on top after a thrilling race against the lightweights from Princeton University. The Bulldogs race again tomorrow competing for a spot in the championship final.
Today's race began with a characteristically fast start from the Elis. As Yale settled into race cadence, coxswain Thomas Fant '19 sat on Princeton's bow ball. However, the Tigers were ready to fight back, increasing their stroke rate to move up on Yale.
Though Yale maintained a five to six seats lead for much of the race, Princeton sprinted early cutting down Yale's lead during the final two minutes. As the crews entered the enclosure section signaling the last minute of the race, Princeton had shortened Yale's lead to three seats.
Yale ultimately bested the Tigers by a canvas, finishing the race in 6:15.
Yale's next race is tomorrow, Saturday, July 6. Time and competitor are TBA.
