Indoor Rowing Tanks

During the winter off-season Yale's oarsmen head indoors to the rowing tanks. The lower level of Yale's Payne Whitney Gymnasium, named for the captain of the 1898 crew, holds one of the most complete indoor rowing facilities in the world. The space is divided into three areas for the men's heavyweight, men's lightweight and women's crew teams. Each team's area houses a moving water rowing tank, over twenty rowing ergometers, and ample space for body circuits, weight training and stretching.
