NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale's heavyweight crews will head to Princeton, N.J., this Sunday to race in at the annual Princeton 3-Mile Chase regatta. The Princeton 3-Mile Chase is an invitational head-race for men's and women's collegiate crews. With the addition of a freshman eight event this year, the Princeton Chase is an opportunity for Yale to race its entire squad at once in one venue -- a first for this fall. The Bulldogs are sending four varsity eights and one freshman eight.
Last year, the heavyweights took second, 18th and 35th in the heavyweight eight. Princeton's first boat won the event. The Bulldogs will add a fourth boat to the mix this year and hope to improve on last year's results. They will kick off the day with an 11:00 a.m. start time.
The freshman squad will have its first opportunity this fall to race in an eight. At the Head of the Housatonic, the heavyweight freshmen were in fours. The freshman heavyweight eight has a 2:00 p.m. start time.
