DERBY, Conn.— After wins in three of four races against Navy last weekend, the Bulldogs are back in action this weekend at home against Georgetown. All crews be looking to build on last week's racing, where they faced tough conditions and resilient Navy crews. Racing begins at 9:15am with the first freshmen eight and concludes at 10am with the first varsity.
At 9:15am, the first freshmen eight takes to the course after a two second victory over Navy last weekend. Also in this race is the Yale third varsity eight. The boat will be looking to bounce back after an opening day defeat by the Midshipmen. Largely comprised of novice oarsmen, the 3V is on a steep learning curve and stands to benefit from another race against league competition.
The second varsity eight is next at 9:45am. After posting a fast time against Navy last weekend, the crew will be looking to clock another strong performance against the Hoyas— who will be determined to reverse a tough loss to Princeton last weekend.
The final race of the day is the first varsity eight. Varsity oarsman and captain Matthew O'Donoghue spoke of his excitement for upcoming race.
"We're looking forward to our first home race of the season— it will be fun to throw down in front of our supporters," O'Donoghue said. "We'll be looking to build on last week's race and keep looking for more speed."
This applies to all crews in the program, as they work to apply the improvements made at practice in a competitive environment.
A spectator bus will depart from Payne Whitney Gym at 7:30am.
