WORCESTER, Mass. – It was a good day for the Yale 150 on Lake Quinsigamond in a tough day of racing. Each Yale crew made the grand final and were fighting for medals.
Yale's third varsity eight was the first to perform and after a strong heat sought to enter the medals podium. However, a final sprint by Yale in a well-executed race was not quite enough to overtake the Naval Academy, who held onto third place as the Bulldogs finished fourth.
Yale's second varsity similarly was in the fight for a medal for most of the race, just missing out in the final sprint and finishing fifth.
Finally, Yale's first varsity eight held its fourth-place seed, edging out Harvard who challenged them in the heat.
Meanwhile, the Yale heavyweight varsity eight won their competition. Y150 is proud of their heavyweight counterparts, who took Yale's first win at this event since 1982.
The lightweight Bulldogs now have two weeks to prepare for the IRA National Championship.
