PRINCETON, N.J. – The Yale Lightweight varsity eight placed third out of 32 crews in the third and final fixture of the fall season. Additionally, the Y150 "A" coxed four won the lightweight four event.
The team began the day with the lightweight eight event. Yale's varsity eight started in second place, behind Cornell and ahead of Harvard, as per the results from last year. Cornell won the event in a time of 13:37.970 ahead of Princeton in 13:39.419 and Yale in 13:42.419. Yale's "B" and "C" crews finished 11th and 12th respectively, in times of 14:08.794 and 14:11.794. This was a particularly impressive finish for the "C" crew, which finished ahead of all "C" competition.
In the afternoon, the crews separated into fours. Yale started second, behind Harvard, who won the event last year. Yale's top four won the event in a time of 15:14.843, 11 seconds clear of the field, with a crew from Cornell finishing second. The lightweight "B", "D" and "C" crews finished 10th, 13th, and 22nd respectively.
The Chase concludes racing for the fall. The lightweights now have several months to prepare for the spring season racing which will all be contested over a standard 2000m.
