NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- This Saturday, the No. 6 Yale lightweights will race on the Housatonic for the second and final time this spring as they look to defend the Loyal Durand Cup against the No. 8 Dartmouth varsity lightweights. Both programs will race two eights. So far, Yale's Varsity eight has wins over Navy and Georgetown and were third to Columbia and Penn in last weekend's racing. Last weekend, Yale's 2nd eight was able to best both Columbia and Penn. Dartmouth is coming off a loss to Harvard. Yale has won the Durand Cup the past six spring seasons.
The Cup, inaugurated in 1958, commemorates Yale lightweight oarsman and coach Loyal Durand III.
