Lightweights Conclude Racing at Housatonic
Oct. 11, 2008
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale's lightweight crew team has concluded its first regatta of the fall season. The Head of the Housatonic concluded smoothly, with lightweight boats winning two events and coming in second place in another two.
Yale's lightweights took first through fourth in the men's open pair. The winning time was 16:07.26. Yale lightweights took first and third in the collegiate men's four. Their winning time for that event was 14:18.95.
In the open eight, the Bulldogs took second behind the New York Athletic Club. The lightweight freshmen eight had a good row and came in second behind the Brown heavyweight freshmen.
For head coach Andy Card, the day was all about trying out different combinations for the first time under pressure. "The feedback we got from our efforts in the first month of the season were very positive and encouraging," he said, "but of course we have a long way to go and many competitions to trial before we get the mix right."
The Bulldogs head to Boston next weekend for the Head of the Charles.
