PRINCETON, NJ - The Elis were right in the thick of things at the Princeton Chase on Sunday afternoon. After a strong performance at last weekend's Head of the Charles, Yale entered three boats each in the lightweight eight and four races on Carnegie Lake in Princeton, N.J.
In the eight, Yale's top boat finished third with a time of 13:42.67, less than five seconds behind Pennsylvania's winning boat. Yale's second and third boats finished fifteenth and sixteenth.
In the four-man race, Yale's best finish was 15:42.47, good for sixth place. The Bulldogs' other boats finished in twelfth and twenty-third.
"We're definitely up at the top and in the mix," head coach Andy Card said. "It wasn't a bad day."
The Elis will not be away from Princeton for long, as they return next Sunday for the Belly of the Carnegie.
