Varsity Eight Wins First Race at Henley
June 29, 2005
The national champion Yale varsity eight lightweight crew defeated Bristol University by nearly three lengths in the first leg of the Temple Challenge Cup on the Thames River. This heat is part of the Royal Henley Regatta.
According to head coach Andy Card, the Bulldog boat is among the lightest in the event and were facing one of the heaviest (average weight in boat) eights in Bristol.
"We think we can go pretty far," Card said. "We did a nice job today and we are on our way."
The Yale four will take on the New York Athletic Club on Thursday
