Kachru's Second-Place Finish Highlights NCAA Regional Performance

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Junior Shiv Kachru's second-place finish in foil competition highlighted the Yale men's fencing team's day at NCAA Northeast Regional competition Sunday at Vassar. The Bulldogs also got a fifth-place finish from senior Nathaniel Botwinick in foil, and a 10th-place finish from freshman Peter Cohen in epee, and all three of those fencers qualified for the NCAA tournament.

Kachru finished with an overall record of 16-6, with 48 touches scored and an indicator of +14. Botwinick finished with a record of 13-9, with 45 touches scored and an indicator of +11.

Yale's other foilist, junior captain Jonathan Holbrook, finished 16th. In epee, freshman Cornelius Saunders finished 18th and freshman Benjamin Mappin-Kasirer was 20th.

In sabre, junior Adam Fields was 16th, sophomore Nathaniel Benzimra was 17th and sophomore Colin Mills was 21st.
