NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Three members of the Yale men's fencing team have qualified for the NCAA Championships, based on their performance at the NCAA Northeast Regionals and throughout the season. In the national collegiate circuit, only twenty four male fencers in each weapon achieve such an honor.
Isaac Shelanski, a sophomore epeeist, will be the only Bulldog returning to the NCAA Championships. Last year he placed 18th at the competition and he hopes to top that result this time. His squadmate Jonathan Xu, a junior, also made the cut for the first time this year.
First-year foilist Cameron Allen will be making his first appearance at the NCAA Championships.
The competition will be held at Penn State in State College, Pa. from March 22 to March 25.
