Jan. 24, 2004

The men's fencing team defeated Vassar 17-10 as Chie-yu Lin posted a 3-0 record in foil. Against Rutgers, teammate Cory Werk was undefeated in his foil bouts, but the Elis fell 16-11 in that competition.

In the Vassar meet, the Bulldogs earned a 5-4 victory in foil with the help of Lin's sweep, and also won saber 5-4. A 7-2 win in the epee extended the Elis' lead.

Werk's performance was not enough to push the Elis past Rutgers, as they fell 3-6 in the foil and saber weapons and won epee by the small margin of 5-4.

The Elis continue from Poughkeepsie on to New York City tomorrow where they will participate in the NYU Invitational all day.
