The bout against Detroit will be a first for Yale.
"We have never fenced the University of Detroit before, but coming off an intense and productive winter training session and our 4-0 victory at Brandeis, I think we are in good shape to win," commented team manager Andrew Holbrook.
The Bulldogs beat Vassar last year, 20-7.
Captain Michael Pearce added, "Although we had a great end to the fall semester by beating Brandeis and St. John's we do have a long, intense season ahead of us. Last year Vassar came to us and after their loss, vowed revenge. And since we have never fenced U Detroit, we don't know what to expect."
He added, "I know we will use this weekend as warm up for next weekend (NYU Invitational) and the Ivy League season starting in February."
