Witt Earns Ivy Player of Week
Yale QB Scores Game Winner
PRINCETON, N.J. - Yale QB Patrick Witt (Wylie, Texas) was named Ivy League co-Offensive Player of the Week after helping the Bulldogs beat Georgetown last Saturday at Yale Bowl. He shared the league's first offensive honor with Dartmouth RB Nick Schwieger.
Witt, who connected on 35 of 55 passes for 407 and two scores in the 40-35 win, became just the sixth Yale QB to throw for more than 400 yards. The junior also dove into the end zone from a yard out on the game's final play to get the win. Witt's game-winning score capped a 10-play, 64-yard drive over the last 1:27 to give the Bulldogs (1-0) the comeback victory over the Hoyas (2-1). He completed four of six passes for 46 yards on the final drive.
Witt, making his seventh career start, hit seven different receivers on the Class of 1954 Field while becoming the first Bulldog thrower to top 400 yards since Alvin Cowan in 2004.
