Hometown Boy in NFL Camp
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of former Yale TE Chris Blohm '11 to a three-year deal.
Blohm, a free agent who has been working out for a number of teams, played in 30 varsity games at Yale and started the last 17 of them. Known better for his blocking skills, the 6-foot-4, 262-pound end still made 27 career receptions for 270 yards with two touchdowns.
This is Yale's third National Football League roster spot this summer. HB Shane Bannon (Southbury, Conn.), taken in the seventh round of the April draft, is with Kansas City, while DE Tom McCarthy (Chester, N.J.) is a free agent in Atlanta.
Blohm, a San Francisco native who was first-team all-conference at St. Ignatius High School, will wear No. 47 and could see action in the 49ers exhibition game at New Orleans on Friday night.
