Practice Begins Aug. 19

Yale On The Field Friday at 2

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Bulldogs begin barking on Yale gridirons Aug. 19. Preparation for the 2011 football season starts on the field this Friday at 2 p.m. with the first of 11 straight days of afternoon practices.

Tom Williams, the Joel E. Smilow '54 Head Coach of Football, has his team on the field with just helmets the first three days before the Elis put on full gear Aug. 22. Most practices last two hours and are run at Clint Frank Field and the fields behind the baseball stadium. All are open to the public.

When classes begin on Aug. 31, the Bulldogs kickoff 7:30 AM workouts, the normal routine for midweek practices during the season. Yale's pre-season scrimmage is set for Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. against Dean College in the Bowl.

The Bulldogs, coming off a 7-3 season and a second-place finish in the Ivy League, open the season by hosting Georgetown at Yale Bowl on the Class of '54 Field on Sept. 17 at noon.
