Witt Takes Ivy League Award
Yale QB Gets 2nd Weekly Honor
PRINCETON, N.J. – Last week he shared the league's top honor, this week he has it for himself. Yale senior QB Patrick Witt (Wylie, Texas) was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Bulldogs to a 37-17 win over Cornell on Sept. 24 at Yale Bowl.
Witt threw a pair of scoring passes and ran for another while helping the Bulldogs produce 405 yards of total offense. He completed 24 of 33 passes for 246 yards with no interceptions or sacks in Yale's Ivy opener.
The Rhodes and Mitchell Scholar candidate connected with nine different Yale receivers while moving into fourth place on the school's career passing yardage list with 4,201.
Witt, who leads the Ancient Eight in 2011 with five TD passes and a 165 passer rating, shared offensive honors last week when he accounted for four (3 pass, 1 rush) scores.
