Class of 2016 Announced

28 Newcomers Join Yale Program

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Tony Reno, the new Joel E. Smilow '54 Head Coach of Yale Football, announced the names of 28 student-athletes who comprise the team's class of 2016.

The new freshmen come from 12 states – California and Florida leading the way with six each - and one Canadian province. The most recruited position among the newcomers is offensive line (6), while the rest are spread out on both sides of the line, including two quarterbacks.

"It was a sprint, but we are excited about our incoming class.  We were looking for competitors, players who love to compete and are willing to work in everything they do to be successful," said Reno.  "Yale wants players that eat, sleep and drink the game of football.  We think we have found that type of player in our 2016 class."
