Cazzetta, Varga on CFPA Watch List
Two Yale Juniors Included
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Two Yale juniors, punter Kyle Cazzetta (Slate Hill, N.Y.) and running back Tyler Varga (Kitchener, Ont.) have been selected to the College Football Performance Awards Watch List. The CFPA, the largest awards organization in D-I college football, will hand out individual post-season honors in the Football Championship Subdivision.
Cazzetta, who averaged 40 yards per punt last season, is one of the Ivy League's premier special teams players. He put 13 punts inside the 20-yard line and had a long boot of 72 in 2012.
The 6-foot, 208-pound lefty has been the starting punter the last two seasons and may also be handling the placekicking for the 2013 Bulldogs, who open the season at Colgate on Sept. 21.
Varga earned the 2012 CFPA Elite All-Purpose Award after leading the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision in all-purpose yards per game. He was a first-team All-Ivy pick in his first season of American collegiate football, rushing for 935 yards and eight touchdowns.
The former Canadian collegiate star, who led the Ivy League in rushing yards per game, played running back and quarterback last fall while also returning kickoffs.
