Bulldogs In First Week of Workouts
Practices Open to Public
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale's pre-season practice schedule, which is open to the public, is under way and includes single and double sessions up to the start of classes on Aug. 28, followed by afternoon sessions leading up to the Sept. 21 opener at Colgate.
The Elis are typically on the field from 9 to 11:45 in the morning. If there is a second on-field workout that day, it would be for an hour starting at 4:15. The normal exceptions would be scrimmages, including the 1 p.m. Sept. 7 contest at Brown.
The Bulldogs practice on real grass and synthetic surfaces next to Yale Field and the DeWitt Cuyler Track. The finishing touches are currently being applied to the newest artificial turf, on Clint Frank Field, which will be available to the team in a few weeks. Frank Field is used for both practices and JV games.
Brown came to the Bowl last September (see photo) to scrimmage, so this year's meeting is at Providence, two weeks before the Ivy League teams kick off the 2013 season. The two meet again in November on the Class of 1954 Field.
