He was an assistant at Pomona-Pitzer College for the 1997 campaign before serving as inside linebacker, assistant special teams coordinator and head strength and conditioning coach at Georgetown from 1998 to 2001.
His Tufts players were nationally ranked in scoring defense four different seasons and he coached 17 All-NESCAC players since becoming an assistant at the Meford, Mass., school. He also coached the defensive backs at Tufts.
Walsh was a history major and four-year Amherst starter who earned a masters in educational studies at Tufts in 2005.
