McCarthy Named Pre-Season All-America

July 6, 2006

Senior offensive tackle Ed McCarthy (Fairfield, Conn.) has been named to The Sports Network's 2006 Pre-Season All-America first team, while he was also rated the No. 1 offensive tackle in I-AA by the same organization.

McCarthy, a three-year starter with 29 straight starts, is one of just three Ivy League players to make the first or second team. Harvard RB Clifton Dawson was also a first-team pick, while Brown LB Zak DeOssie earned a second-team spot.

McCarthy, who was the 2003 Ivy League Rookie of the Year (first offensive lineman ever) and has been an all-league pick the last two seasons, has started at three different positions on the offensive line. He has also won numerous academic honors while leading the Bulldog offense.

The 2006 Yale season begins on Sept. 16 at Yale Bowl against San Diego.
